St. Croix Festival Theatre opens their summer comedy, Fools by Neil Simon on Saturday, July 13th at 7:30 p.m. The show runs July 13 - August 4.
This romantic comedy, by Neil Simon, follows Leon Tolchinsky, who is ecstatic. He’s landed a terrific teaching job in an idyllic Russian hamlet. When he arrives he finds people sweeping dust from the stoops back into their houses and people milking upside down to get more cream. The town has been cursed with Chronic Stupidity for 200 years and Leon’s job is to break the curse.
Featuring a cast filled with the summer company and artistic staff of Festival Theatre, this comedic tongue-in-cheek fable will bring the laughs! It’s true lighthearted fun directed by Festival Theatre veteran Jaclyn June Johnson. Johnson, the former co-artistic director of Festival Theatre and a resident artist and staff member of the company for nearly a decade is delighted to return to the St. Croix Valley, stating “This is my home away from home.”
The majority of the cast and crew of the show includes the summer company of St. Croix Festival Theatre. Each year, Festival hires 8-10 professional artists from around the nation to come live in the St. Croix Valley and put on professional summer stock theatre in the area with the artistic staff of Festival. This year, Festival has artists hired from Indiana, Tennessee, Arizona, Texas, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and more. The summer company of St. Croix Festival Theatre engages in several productions over the summer season as well as performing in improv shows and engaging local youth in the art in action summer youth camps.
Fools opens on July 13th. Tickets are $26 for adults and $13.50 for students or youth (ages 5-25) and can be purchased at FestivalTheatre.org, emailing email@example.com or by calling the box office at 715-483-3387.
