The Stillwater girls alpine skiing team is off to another strong start this season and returning all-state performer Maycie Neubauer is among those leading the way.
The junior placed second individually to help lift the Ponies to a comfortable victory in a Suburban East Conference meet at Afton Alps on Jan. 17. Prior to that, she placed fourth and third while helping the Ponies to runner-up finishes in the MLK Sunrise and Sunset events at Giants Ridge on Jan. 14.
The Ponies were scheduled to compete in another SEC meet on Jan. 19 at Afton Alps.

Boys Nordic skiing
A strong cast returns this winter for the Stillwater boys Nordic skiing team and Carson Peterson has one of the top performers so far this season.
The junior placed second in the individual standings to help lead the Ponies to a runner-up showing in the Suburban East Conference pursuit race on Jan. 16 at Battle Creek. He also joined teammate George Nelson to place second behind a team from forest Lake in a team sprint event on Jan. 11 at LEPR.
Stillwater was scheduled to compete in an SEC classic race at LEPR on Jan. 19.
