The Washington County Historical Society Board of Directors announced that the WCHS Research Center to be named after Nancy & Robert Goodman.

“For more than thirty years,” Dave Lindsey, WCHS Board President said, “Nancy and Robert Goodman have provided the highest quality of scholarly research for the organization and also filled many roles in the organization over that time, and still do!”

The Goodman’s have written more than a half dozen publications for the Washington County Historical Society, including the History of Washington County, In Their Own Words: Washington County Soldiers in the Civil War, Paddlewheels on the Upper Mississippi; The Last Rafter, and the award winning Company K in the Border War. Many articles in the organizations newsletter as well.

Currently Robert Goodman is the Chair of the WCHS Endowment Committee and Nancy Goodman is the editor of the organizations newsletter, Historical Whisperings. “The name change will take effect immediately,” Brent Peterson, WCHS Executive Director stated. “The Goodman’s, through their work and philanthropy, have made the Washington County Historical Society the top County Historical Society in Minnesota.

The Research Center, located at 602 Main Street N., Stillwater, is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m., Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and by appointment. Call ahead or email to confirm research center availability, 651-439-5956 information@wchsmn.org
