Boy Scout Troop 9226 of Afton announces it has seven boys from one patrol who have reached the rank of Eagle Scout. These seven boys started their scouting career in elementary school together as Cub Scouts. The scouts — Max Weiss, Kyle Badger, Craige McConnell, Ben McConnell, Adam Johnson, Sam Horning and Noah Ruh — currently are seniors at Stillwater Area High School.
As one of the Eagle Scout requirements, each scout needed to do a leadership service project for the good of a community.
Max Weiss’s project was landscaping a hillside for Fairview Cemetery in Stillwater.
Kyle Badger designed and built a rain garden for Afton-Lakeland Elementary School.
Craige McConnell designed and built a set of stairs on the hillside for Memorial Lutheran Church in Afton.
Ben McConnell started the first Lego League program for Andersen Elementary School in Bayport.
Adam Johnson built and installed informational trail signs at Afton State Park.
Sam Horning planted trees throughout the city of Lake St. Croix Beach.
Noah Ruh cleared trees and brush to create a clear sight line along a section of the bike trail connecting the cities of Lakeland and Afton. These seven projects encompassed a total of 1,240 in service hours being provided to the troop’s surrounding communities.
A formal Eagle Court of Honor was held at Memorial Lutheran Church, Afton, on Monday, Dec. 1.
