A business offering keepsake ultrasounds for expecting mothers opened in the Grand Garage in Stillwater.
Peek A Baby Boutique, located at 324 Main St. South Suite 9, opened in August. The Greater Stillwater Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for the business on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Peek A Baby Boutique owner Tasha Pond has been a registered diagnostic medical sonographer and registered vascular technologist since 2015. Before opening her business in Stillwater, she worked at a maternal fetal medicine clinic in La Crosse, Wis.
“My favorite part was taking the 3D pictures and telling the families what they’re going to have,” Pond said.
After she moved back to her hometown of Cumberland, Wis., Pond said she missed working with families and giving ultrasounds.
Peek A Baby Boutique offers 2D ultrasound images as well as high definition imaging. In addition to black and white and colorized ultrasound prints, the boutique also provides online access to all photographs and videos from the ultrasound session. Pond said she uses the same machine for ultrasounds that many doctors use.
“It’s the exact same technology,” she said. “It has the best pictures — just so crystal clear. It’s amazing.”
However, Pond emphasized that a Peek A Baby Boutique ultrasound session doesn’t take the place of important medical ultrasounds ordered by a medical provider. She offers a relaxing environment where expecting mothers can get ultrasounds for fun.
“This is more for fun — nothing medical,” she said.
Pond also sells baby and maternity clothes, special frames to put ultrasound pictures in for family members and teddy bears that she can upload an audio file of the baby’s heartbeat to.
Pond said she chose to open a business in Stillwater because many people drive from northern Wisconsin to the Twin Cities to get ultrasounds.
“Stillwater would save them a trip all the way into the cities,” she said.
