LIFEWTR®, the premium bottled water brand, in collaboration with Stillwater-based grocer, CUB, has awarded a $5,000 grant to The Zephyr Theatre in a joint effort to help empower arts and creativity in the Twin Cities.
The grant, which will help fund The Zephyr Theatre’s upcoming holiday production of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” is part of LIFEWTR’s latest efforts to reach 10 million students nationwide through school and community beautification projects and arts education programming. As a proud LIFEWTR retail partner, CUB is collaborating to help shine a light on the burgeoning arts community in downtown Stillwater.
“As the hometown grocer, we take pride in being a good neighbor and providing for our customers beyond our store walls,” said Diana Colburn, Vice President of Human Resources and Community Relations at CUB. “We are excited to team up with LIFEWTR to support The Zephyr Theatre, which has breathed creativity into the Stillwater community through its vibrant concerts, theatre productions, and ongoing arts education.”
“At LIFEWTR, we understand the power of the arts to transform communities and improve quality of life, but also recognize that there is not always equal access. That’s why we are committed to supporting artistic projects and initiatives in communities, like Stillwater,” said Neil Pryor, President of PepsiCo Beverages North America Central Division. “We are inspired by the mission of The Zephyr Theatre and are thrilled to help support its upcoming holiday production and promote creativity in the Twin Cities.”
Founded in 2016 in the former Zephyr train depot, The Zephyr Theatre offers theatrical and musical performances as well as art education for people of all ages in the St. Croix Valley and beyond. The theatre typically puts on six plays a year and relies on community donations to help support the cost of production. The grant from LIFEWTR and CUB will specifically cover the rights of “It’s a Wonderful Life” as well as other costs associated with set design and ongoing production, set to run from December 5 – December 22, 2019.
“We’re grateful to have been selected by LIFEWTR and CUB to receive funding for our holiday production,” said Calyssa Hall, Executive Artistic Director of The Zephyr Theatre. “Transforming the old Zephyr Depot into a space for citizens to experience the arts together has had a profound impact on our community, and we’re excited to use this grant to continue expanding our reach and bringing people of all ages together to celebrate creativity.”
