The Annual Members Show at ArtReach St. Croix opened earlier this month with a reception and awards presentation. This year’s exhibition celebrates the diversity of art created in the St. Croix Valley and includes works by 53 artists who live or work in the St. Croix Valley.
Two cash awards were presented at the reception. The River Moon Award, which is selected and supported by members of the IkutaSchodde family, went to James Shoop of St. Croix Falls for “Ramautar,” a bronze sculpture of a gypsy dancer.
This year, ArtReach’s visual arts committee presented an award for best three-dimensional work to Elizabeth Belz of Stillwater for “Medusozoa,” a cast iron and forged steel sculpture depicting a jellyfish.
A third cash award, the Audience Award, will be announced at a closing reception on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2-4 p.m. Each gallery visitor during the run of the members show is invited to cast one vote for a favorite artist or piece. All votes received by 4 p.m. Aug. 14 will be tallied to determine the winner.
The Annual Members Show will be on view through Aug. 15. The galleries at ArtReach St. Croix are open Wednesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m. Extended Thursday hours during the show are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The extended hours on Thursday evening will coincide with “Intersections: Campfire Conversations for Artists” that are designed to encourage artists to ask questions and imagine the possibilities for community-engaged art. ArtReach St. Croix is located at 224 N. Fourth St., Stillwater.
