St. Croix Festival Theatre is proud to present Paul Draper, Mentalist, Magician, and Comedian on Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
Draper, an anthropologist-turned-entertainer, has been performing mentalism and magic for years now. He has appeared on the History Channel, A&E, HBO, Hallmark, the Travel Channel, HGTV, and shows like Hell’s Kitchen, Pawn Stars, Ghost Adventures, Mindfreak, and House Hunters, as well as with magician David Copperfield and Penn from Penn and Teller.
Asked about inviting Paul Draper back, Festival’s artistic director, Jason Richards, praised the show from last year, “The show quickly sold out and was incredibly entertaining and fun for the audience that got to see it last year. We’re thrilled to have Paul share his wonderful show here this year!
Speaking about his show, Draper says, “The show is woven together with comedy, call backs, and a strong theatrical arc that takes the audience on a journey. So many magicians and mentalists simply focus on the trick and if it fools people they say “good enough” and it goes into the show. However, choosing a good trick is like being a white belt in a martial arts class, it is only the beginning of the battle. Most Mentalism is based in language and a journey of the mind. The success of a show like this is dependent upon the audience caring about the performer and the character.”
The show is on May 31 and June 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door (discount prices for youth aged 1-25 available) and can be purchased at FestivalTheatre.org, emailing email@example.com or by calling the box office at 715-483-3387.
