Stillwater graduate Cory Albertson enjoyed a stellar sophomore campaign for the University of Wisconsin-Superior baseball team, which placed fourth in the UMAC Championship Tournament and finished 12-26 overall (8-8 UMAC).
Albertson received all-conference honors and was named the UMAC Player of the Year after leading the conference in several categories, including home runs (13), RBIs (42) and slugging percentage (.847). The sophomore catcher/first baseman ranked second in the conference with a .411 batting average and hits (51).
Albertson was also named to the American Baseball Coaches Association Midwest All-Region Team at first base. This was his second All-Region award as he received the same honor from D3 Baseball at catcher, his first appearance on that squad.
Cory’s older brother, Stephen Albertson, made 19 starts and played in 26 games for the Yellowjackets. The junior drove three doubles, a triple and finished with 11 RBIs.
