In honor of frontline medical staff combating COVID-19, the Minnesota Air National Guard included a flyover of hospitals and medical facilities as part of a scheduled training flight around 11:30 a.m. May 6. A group of Stillwater residents gathered in Pioneer Park to watch the flyover take place. The aircraft flying in formation were two F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft from the 148th Fighter Wing out of Duluth, and were joined by a C-130 Hercules aircraft from the 133rd Air Wing out of Fort Snelling in Saint Paul. Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater was the last location included in the flight, and as the group crossed into Wisconsin the formation broke as the two jets turned north back to Duluth and the C-130 turned west back toward St. Paul.
