STMA eighth-grader Hannah Kvant runs the varsity 4x200 relay for the varsity track team at the recent Howard Wood Invitational in Sioux Falls, S.D.

STMA will not be making the trek to Stillwater to compete in the True Team State meet this season. The STMA boys finished third in the section meet and the girls finished in second place.

Both teams had a handful of first place finishes and solid all-around performances at the meet, which awards points to every competing athlete to create a true “team” atmosphere.

Ali Weimer (5:11.77) and Katie Sigerud (11:05.38) took first in their respective distance events; the 1600 and 3200 meter races. The 4x400 team (4:09.46) also won their race.

Sam Duerr finished fourth in the shot put. The event was won by Mya Lesnar of Alexandria; daughter of UFC fighter and WWE superstar Brock Lesnar.

For the boys, Jackson Tracy won in the 800 (2:00.48), Jonah Breuer in the 1600 (4:30.04), and Kyle Kucera won the pole vault competition (13-00.00). The boys’ 4x800 team also won (8:21.42).

The Lady Knights finished with 1020 points, and the boys finished with 872.

STMA had a last chance meet on Tuesday at home. They compete in the conference meet at Cambridge-Isanti on Thursday.
