STMA track and field did not produce any state title winners at the 2019 state meet Friday and Saturday at Hamline University, but the athletes competing finished the season strong with some setting personal and school records in their events.

Katie Sigerud established a personal best with a time of 5:04.52, finishing in fourth place in the 1600 meter run. Ali Weimer capped her season with a sixth place finish (11:04.30) in the 3200 meter run. Sam Duerr finished twelfth in the shot put (36-05.75).

A school record fell when the 4x400 relay team finished in ninth place in the preliminaries; the team’s time was 4:01.26. They finished in eighth place in the final with a time roughly two seconds slower.

Both STMA 4x800 relay teams finished in fourth place to begin Saturday’s final day of the state meet. The Lady Knights (Weimer, Sigerud, Mia Salas, Paige McAloon) ran a time of 9:25.37, but it was the boys team (Cartner Knaus, Jackson Tracy, Colten Gustafson, Jonah Breuer) which set another new school record with their time of 7:53.82.

Overall, the boys finished 41st with six points and the girls finished 18th with 17 points.
