The STMA Lady Knights soccer team played its first pair of games in its new conference and won both, defeating Wayzata 3-2 on Thursday and Eden Prairie 3-0 on Saturday.
Wayzata grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first half of Thursday’s game, but the Lasy Knights came back in the second half of the contest.
Abby Buckmeier scored to make it a one goal game. She was followed by Taylor Dixon, who tied the game with her goal.
With just three minutes left in regulation, Alexis Phillips scored and gave the Lady Knights the lead and the 3-2 win in their first Lake Conference game.
Meriel Orham made six saves for the Lady Knights.
The Lady Knights hosted Eden Prairie in the late game of a doubleheader at home on Saturday and won 3-0.
Rachel Sustacek, on her birthday, scored the first goal of the game in the opening half. Taylor Beeler scored later in the first half to extend the lead, and Emma Strait scored to make it 3-0 at halftime.
The Lady Knights went on defense in the second half and held on to the shutout for their second straight Lake Conference win.
“It feels good, we’re 2-0 in the Lake right now, it’s a good start for us,” head coach Megan Johnson said.
The Lady Knights played Buffalo on Tuesday night. They host Edina on Thursday night.
