The Lady Knights swept Maple Grove before losing to St. Louis Park. The team also competed in the Southwest Minnesota Challenge over the weekend.

The Lady Knights won the first set 25-15 over Maple Grove on Tuesday night. The second set was a lot closer, with STMA only winning 26-24, but they rebounded in the third set to win 25-21 and take a sweep on the evening.

“I was very proud of them tonight, they all played really well,” head coach Tammy Cornillez said.


STMA lost its first match of the year against St. Louis Park, falling in five sets.

The Lady Knights started strong with a 25-17 victory in set one, only to fall by that same score in set two. They won set three 25-16, only to lose 25-17 again in set four.

Finally, they lost set five 15-13.


STMA took part in the Southwest Minnesota Challenge over the weekend in Marshall. They beat Sioux Falls Roosevelt (South Dakota) 25-9, 25-11 for a 2-0 sweep, and then lost to Minneota 25-21, 25-22.

On Saturday, they beat Chaska 25-18, 25-22, but lost to Elk River (25-15, 25-20, 16-14) and Kasson-Mantorville (25-15, 25-21) to finish up the tournament.

The Lady Knights played at Waconia on Tuesday. They host Moorhead Thursday night.
