Fashionistas have another option to find women’s clothing.

Maple Grove is the new home to recently opened Style Encore, which is located at 13626 80th Circle N.

Owner Angie Sakry said, “The store is women’s resale. People automatically think consignment, but we are a cash on-the-spot store, which is different.”

Style Encore is a store that is part of a national recycling retail chain that specializes in merchandise for women between the ages of late 20s to mid-50s. The store buys and sells quality, gently-used, fashionable clothes for women.

Sakry said, “We have gently used casual and business clothing and accessories like jewelry, scarfs, purses and shoes for sale.”

She went on to say that the store keeps and sells items that are trendy and fashion forward and is a great spot for current styles. “If someone is starting a new job and needs a couple of blazers, we have that kind of stuff,” she said. “We also have designer handbags that won’t break the budget.”

The store opened on Jan. 8 and has seen good business so far. “We have had great traffic in the store,” Sakry said. “We are near Once Upon A Child. Both stores have a lot of the same customers. It’s almost like one stop shopping”

Generally, the store sells merchandise at 60 to 70 percent off of retail prices.

“We really have something for every budget,” Sakry added.

The store also provides customers with cash on-the-spot for items they sell to Style Encore. Unlike a consignment shop, Style Encore does not make people wait for their items to sell before being paid.

“It doesn’t matter the season either, we buy things all year long,” Sakry said. “When someone is done with a clothing item, they can bring it. No appointments necessary. Each is inspected and gone through. We look at four criteria — demands, style, condition and brand. All of the items brought in are processed the same day.”

Style Encore is Winmark Corporation’s latest concept, which is also the parent company of other resale stores like Plato’s Closet, Play It Again Sports and Once Upon A Child.

This is Sakry’s first store, but not her first experience with resale stores. Prior to opening Style Encore, Sakry was an employee at a Plato’s Closet for seven years. After that, she worked for Winmark for three. She had a goal of opening a store one day and jumped at the opportunity to open her own store in Maple Grove.

“We chose Maple Grove for its location,” Sakry said. “Maple Grove is a good spot. There is a lot of retail in Maple Grove, and I like the store location for that reason. And I live near by.”

Style Encore was created for women, by women. Sarky added the store feels fresh. “We are trying to focus on customer experience and heard a lot of customers mention they say the store doesn’t feel like a used clothing store, but it feels more like a boutique.”
