Teleflex Medical OEM, a global resource for medical device development and manufacturing services, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of its EPIC Medtec Center located in Maple Grove. This event will took place on Aug. 21.

Notable guests include Maple Grove Mayor Mark Steffenson; several local government officials; Frank Jaskkulke, VP of Intelligence for the Medical Alley Association (a health technology and care organization); and Tim Kelleher, President and General Manager of Teleflex Medical OEM.

The EPIC (Engineering, Prototyping, Innovation, Collaboration) Medtec Center brings together expert engineering talent and extensive, integrated capabilities to enable clients to develop market-ready devices, reduce technical risk, and get the devices to market faster. Most device development can be accomplished in a few days instead of the weeks, months, or years required by traditional methods.

The Maple Grove center is dedicated to the development of diagnostic and interventional catheters, and access devices. Teleflex Medical OEM’s network of EPIC Medtec Centers includes facilities in Mansfield, Massachusetts and Limerick, Ireland.

All three centers utilize the multi-stage IDEA (Innovation, Development, Engineering, Accelerator) Medtec Process that incorporates a client’s requirements into the medical device. New product ideas can be explored, prototyped, and tested on-site. Guess work is virtually eliminated since decision-making is data-driven via Teleflex Medical OEM’s proprietary analytic tools.

The smartly-configured floor plan of the EPIC Medtec Center in Maple Grove was planned to promote innovation in a collaborative environment. Everything is in place to move a medical device from concept to production-ready device. There are immersion labs for concept development, design engineering, and demonstrative prototyping and testing. Amenities such as a video conferencing center and 3D printing studio are also available.
