I have lived in Maple Grove for 20 years and appreciate what a beautiful city it is.
My husband and I walk about 2 miles every day. Some times we walk in our neighborhood and other times we walk around the lakes in downtown Maple Grove, or on the trails at the Arboretum or at Central Park. We feel very fortunate to have so many options for our walks.
When we walk, we always take a bag or two and pick up trash along our route. Sometimes we fill two grocery bags, one with trash like plastic bags, cigarette packages, and in the last few years, masks, rubber gloves and sanitary wipes.
We have a grabber to pick these items up to avoid germs. The second bag we use to hold cans, plastic bottles, paper and cardboard.
Other walkers often thank us for picking up the trash and we feel we are helping to keep Maple Grove a lovely place to walk, run or bike.
Please consider picking up trash on your walks. We all share responsibility for caring for our city and our planet.
