Halloween proved to be full of more treats than tricks, when the Maple Grove High School girls soccer team won the championship game and claimed the school’s first-ever state girls soccer title. The Crimson came into the state tournament as the No. 5 seed but defeated No. 4 Minnetonka 2-0 in the quarterfinal, No. 1 Champlin Park 3-0 in the semifinal and No. 2 Centennial 2-1 in the final. The Crimson were the underdogs but going into the state championship game they knew they have the talents to win.
