Next week, the city of Anoka will host its first annual End of Summer Bash.

The evening gathering will feature live music, an ice cream social, a movie in the park, food trucks, games, and more. The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. at Riverfront Memorial Park, 2201 2nd Avenue, in Anoka on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

The Plott Hounds will kick-off the bash with a concert on the new Veterans Stage.

Simultaneously, the Anoka Kiwanis will host an ice cream social and serve free root beer floats. The complimentary ice cream treats will be made possible by event sponsors, including Two Scoops and Killebrew Root Beer, and will be available while supplies last. BOB Total Country 106.1 is also an event sponsor. Two food trucks will be on-site, and concessions will be sold (cash only) to help support Anoka’s Waterfowl for Warriors hunting program.

The evening event will also include yard games, a bounce house and face paintings.

A big movie screen will be set up for the city’s debut “Movie in the Park” event. Disney Pixar’s “UP” will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. “We are excited to host our first movie in the park with new equipment we obtained through Quad Cities Community Television, and share between the cities of Andover, Anoka, Champlin, and Ramsey,” said Public Services Administrator Lisa LaCasse.

Organizers encourage attendees to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Monetary donations will be accepted for ACBC Food Shelf. To learn more about the upcoming event or future Movie in the Park dates, visit
