With four more wins, and the closest game of the summer, the Upsala Swanville Area Legion baseball team capped off its undefeated season.
The Patriots will not be participating in playoffs, and conclude the season at 16-0.
The final four wins began with a doubleheader sweep of Otter Tail Central, July 8.
In game one, the Patriots’ power pushed them to victory. Jeremy Mugg hit two home runs and drove in four. Luke Harren also went deep with a solo shot and scored twice in the contest with two hits.
Bryce Biniek added two hits, and Cooper Thieschafer scored twice for USA.
Levi Lampert earned the win on the mound, going four innings, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out seven.
In the Patriots’ closest game of the season, they scraped past OTC, 3-2, in eight innings, thanks to a walk off.
Lampert was sensational, and was a single away from hitting for the cycle. He scored twice and drove in a run on his three hits.
Biniek and Tyler Smieja both had RBIs.
Cooper Thieschafer pitched the first 7.1 innings before reaching the pitch limit. He allowed one earned run on four hits and struck out 10. Mugg came in and got the final two outs.
Pierz edged Long Prairie, 5-2, Monday. All five of the Patriots’ runs came in the fifth inning.
Lampert hit a two-run triple and then scored. Shane Lambrecht, Biniek and Kaleb Primus all drove in runs for USA.
Luke Harren went 6.2 innings before hitting the pitch limit. He allowed two runs on six hits and struck out nine.
Finally, USA smashed the Breckenridge junior Legion team, 15-2, in five innings.
A nine-run fourth inning broke the game wide open.
Tyson Leners went 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs, including a home run. Lampert hit two triples, scored three times and drove in two.
Biniek also drove in two runs and scored twice. Lucas Miller scored three runs.
Lampert pitched the first three innings, and Micah Ripplinger pitched the final two innings.
