Pierz' boys track team racked up points and ended up finishing in third place as a team, the highest finish in school history.
Pierz junior Matthias Algarin did not advance to the triple jump finals until his final attempt, but once he did, he ended up with the longest jump of the day in the finals, earning him a the Class A triple jump title, Friday, June 7.
That was not the only event that Algarin had success in though. He made the finals of the 100 and 200 meter dash and competed in the long jump, Saturday, June 8. Algarin finished as a runner-up in the long jump, and made the podium in the 100 dash with a fifth place finish. He was ninth in the 200 dash.
He also wasn't Pierz' only success story. Both senior Zach Becker and junior Carter Moulzolf advanced to the finals of the 300 hurdles. Becker finished in fifth place, while Moulzolf was ninth.
Moulzolf was then joined by Ryan Stangl, Alex Gross and Colton Kasper in the 4x100 relay, which they finished in ninth place. Gross, Kasper, Moulzolf and Becker also placed ninth in the 4x200 relay.
Royalton junior Christopher Borash was a ninth place finisher in the 1600 meters.
Little Falls freshman Dani Schirmers made the finals of the 100 hurdles, taking ninth place in Class AA.
