Ethel Karpinski, 84-year-old resident of Flensburg, MN, died Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 12 at 10:30 a.m. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, October 11 and from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service on Saturday all at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg. The burial will be held in the parish cemetery. Ethel Marie Karpinski was born on July 7, 1935 in Center Valley Hillman Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to the late Ferdinand and Catherine (Froehner) Dahmen. She attended St. Francis School in Little Falls and graduated from Pierz High School with the class of 1953. After high school, Ethel moved to Minneapolis where she worked for Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company. A short time later, Ethel met Fred Karpinski and the couple was married on June 1, 1957 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN. The couple made their home near Flensburg, MN, where they farmed and raised their six children. Ethel was an excellent cook, gardener and seamstress. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN. Ethel will be remembered as wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Fred of Flensburg; children, Dan (Sheryl) Karpinski of Sauk Rapids, Laurie (Jeff) Brunscheon of Readlyn, Iowa, Jim (Terry) Karpinski of Blaine, Cheryl (Mitch) Haeny of Sauk Rapids, Susan (Tim) Zipoy of Kimball and AJ Karpinski of Brainerd; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; sister, Jan (Bob) Maciej of Bowlus; sisters-in-law; extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Joel Karpinski and brothers, Wilfred, Claude and Kenny Dahmen. A special thank you to the staff at Country Manor and St. Cloud Hospital for all the care given. The arrangements for Ethel are with Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls.
