Jason Edward Carson, 39, Foley (formerly St. Cloud), was convicted of felony second degree burglary in Morrison County District Court, Aug. 28.
First and third degree burglary charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
The charges stem from a June 28, 2018 incident, when the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary at a bar on Nature Road.
An individual broke into the bar after it closed for the night and stole liquor, cigarettes, $5,000 in cash and a firearm which was going to be raffled off by a local organization.
A number of burglaries occurred in Benton County at the same time.
The Foley Police Department executed a search warrant at Carson’s property and located a number of items from recent burglaries.
Carson told investigators while in custody that he had broken into the bar on Nature Road and that he stole most of the items with the exception of the firearm, which he didn’t take due to the potentially long prison sentence he could receive for doing so.
As part of a plea agreement, Carson pleaded guilty to the second degree charge and the other two were dismissed.
He was sentenced to four years in prison and was fined $135.
