Little Falls Community High School (LFCHS) announced that Alex Gwost has been chosen as the Boy of the Month for September 2019. He is the son of Rusty and Lyn Gwost.

Gwost is a two-sport athlete for the Flyers. During the winter season, Gwost is a guard for the basketball team. A team captain as a junior, he returns as a two-year letter winner for the 2019-20 season. Baseball is the game of choice for Gwost in the spring where he plays infield and pitches.

In addition to his involvement in athletics, Gwost has been chosen as a Link leader for the last two years. Link leaders help freshmen and new upperclassmen adjust to the high school environment.

Gwost has been on the A honor roll throughout high school and was named to the Honor Society during his junior year.

Volunteer activities for Gwost include helping coach traveling baseball, Babe Ruth baseball and traveling basketball. Additionally, he has been active in helping with the early phases of construction at the Belle Prairie Baseball Complex. He was involved with field preparations and landscaping as well as helping prepare the fields for games.

“I had the pleasure of having Alex Gwost in my College in the Schools chemistry class. I have great respect for Alex. He has a tremendous work ethic, a humble spirit, a genuine personality and a great smile. He is rooted in strong values and pursues his passions,” said Ann Graeve, high school science teacher.

“Of particular note, I have learned and appreciated that Alex seeks being challenged. Whether as a student, an athlete or simply a human, Alex sees the value in being willing to try, to stretch himself, to learn — even when it is uncomfortable. What an awesome and admirable life skill.”

Jeff Massmann, physical education teacher, said, “Alex always exhibits excellence in the classroom and pairs it with his kindness to others at our community high school. He makes peers feel important and greatly contributes to the awesome culture we have here in Little Falls. Alex is a take-charge young man who has great balance in his life which helps him connect with so many students throughout the day.”

An avid outdoorsman, Gwost enjoys hunting and fishing. Playing baseball and basketball, hanging out with friends and family and cheering on the Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves are also noted by Gwost as favorite hobbies.

Gwost looks forward to pursuing a career in the medical field and playing college baseball next year, but he is currently undecided about where he will continue his education.
