4x400 team to run another day after advancing to State finals

The Monticello High School 4x400 relay track team advanced to the Saturday finals of the Minnesota State Track and Field Meet- and set a Monticello High School school record along the way!

The #16 seeded Magic team of Ashanti Guertin, Thalia Mendoza-Brunotte, Lily Johnson, and Jordyn Larson turned in a 7th place finish with a time of 3:58.09, which was about seven seconds faster that the 4:05.29 that the girls ran June 1 at the Section 8AA meet to earn a berth in the state meet.

The girls edged Moorhead (#8, 3:59.79) and St. Michael-Albertville (#9, 4:01.26) for seventh place in the 4x400 prelims. The top nine teams advanced to Saturday's event finals. Eagan had the best time, finishing first with a 3:58.39. White Bear Lake was second with a time of 3:55.67. Northfield took third place with a time of 3:55.86. The next three teams in front of the Magic runners were: Rosemount (4th, 3:58.57), Wayzata (5th, 3:56.09) and Roseville (6th, 3:56.87).

The girls 4x400 championship is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 8.
