A shift manager at a Monticello pizza restaurant is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from nightly deposits.
Now Matthew Dreher, 38 of Monticello, faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the felony theft charge filed against the suspect in Wright County District Court.
In an emailed statement to Wright County investigators, Dreher allegedly admitted to the series of thefts, blaming them on a gambling issue, according to a criminal complaint filed Jan. 10 in Wright County District Court.
Dreher, who investigators say skipped out on a number of face-to-face meetings before communicating through email, told investigators he intended to pay the money back, court records state.
According to the criminal complaint: Pizza Ranch in Monticello was notified by its bank that a number of deposits had not been made.
There were at least 11 dates when deposits were not made or the deposits were short, court records state. The amount of money believed to be stolen was $10,754.
Dreher is scheduled to make his first court appearance on March 20.
