To the editor,

A message to our friends, neighbors, area residents, and firefighters from other agencies.

On Saturday, June 1, the Mound firefighters and their families hosted the 68th Annual Fish Fry and Dance at the Mound Fire Station. This year there was no rain…as the weather cooperated with highs in the low 70’s.

Once again, area residents turned out in large numbers and supported the event as we served 2,662 fish dinners, which made the event a huge success. Our staff is working hard in an effort to reduce the food line wait times. We think we have a solution for 2020.

Our staff of firefighters would like to say thank you to everyone who attended or purchased tickets to our annual event. Each year we enjoy seeing long time attendees along with meeting first time attendees. It’s always a great community event.

We would also like to thank the many local businesses that contributed to our event with cash donations, ticket purchases, and door prizes for our silent auction and raffle. A special thank you to Scott Bjorlin at Scotty B’s for helping sponsor the event.

When all bills have been paid, we anticipate that several thousand dollars of proceeds will be used to support the fire department budget again this year.

We hope those of you that attended the event had a fun time and we look forward to seeing you again next year at our 69th Annual Fish Fry and Dance.

Your continued support of the fire department is greatly appreciated!

Fish Fry Chairman
