The Long Lake Fire Department Slow Burn Brigade is gearing up for its 8th annual Fall Boutique at Long Lake Fire Station One on Saturday, Nov. 2.

The Slow Burn Brigade (SBB) is an organization that has been part of the department for over 10 years and is made up of wives and family members of the LLFD. The brigade works to support the firefighters in their pursuit of fire prevention awareness and ensuring the safety of the citizens they serve, according to SBB member Heather Gonsior.

“The members of the LLFD SBB pursue this mission through activities supporting the fiscal, public service and response needs of the LLFD firefighters, families and the community,” she said.

The biggest fundraiser the SBB hosts is their annual Fall Boutique. This year’s free event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Non-perishable food donations for WeCAN will also be collected, and there will be the opportunity to be entered into a drawing to win a gift basket.

“The money raised during the boutique supports the rest of the events we host throughout the year, most notably the Holiday Toy and Food Drive on Dec. 7,” Gonsior said.

During the Holiday Toy and Food Drive, families are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or non-perishable food donations in order to have their photos taken with Santa, who will arrive in a fire truck, Gonsior said. Other events SBB hosts throughout the year include their annual pancake breakfast each Spring, Memorial Day services, the Red Hot Run 5K and the Fire Prevention Open House.

The boutique will feature over 30 Minnesota crafters and vendors including booths focused on nutrition, knitting, cross stitching, handmade designs and nutrition. Tastefully Simple, Young Living Essential Oils, Perfectly Posh, Lake Life Nutrition, LuLaRoe, Family 5 Design and Just Be Aligned are a few participating vendors.

“It’s a great opportunity to get a head start on holiday shopping with unique, one of a kind gifts. We have vendors taking custom orders at the show and event on personalizing Christmas ornaments to take home with you,” Gonsior said.

A full list of vendors can be found on the SBB’s 2019 Fall Boutique event page,
