Christ Lutheran Church is hosting their fourth annual Love Out Loud Music Festival on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 3-6 p.m. The free outdoor concert will be held rain or shine in the church’s parking lot and features live performances from three Christian music acts.
Pastor Ron Boettner describes the event as a “powerful afternoon” filled with hundreds of people listening to popular Christian music that will lift the audience up.
“It is a great community feeling and a spiritual oasis in the midst of jamming everything into our short Minnesota summers,” he said.
Since the event is taking place on a Saturday this year instead of a Sunday, The church will be having a 9 a.m. Sunday worship with headliner Chris August. Boettner said he will be there to share his story. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy more food vendors this year as well.
The all-ages event has grown over the years according to Boettner. The first year the church had about 200 to 300 people from the community walk over to experience the concert; however, the event continues to attract more people every year. The church is expecting about 800 to 1,000 people
“Sharing a Christian concert and welcoming people to this experience is a journey in itself. Every year we have been amazed at how God helps make it happen and draws people into the event,” Boettner said.
Past acts have included Jason Gray, The Afters, Citizen Way, Seventh Hour and Molly Sartor. This year’s concert will also feature opening act Molly Sartor as well as Nate Sabin with Christian artist Chris August headlining.
Christ Lutheran Church Youth Director Molly Sartor will once again take the stage to perform her songs. Nate Sabin is a Minnesota musician who plays folk-rock and gospel rhythm and blues.
National Christian artist Chris August will bring a pop vibe to the stage. August is the recipient of the 2011 Dove Award winning New Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the year. He describes his recently released album “Seasons” as an album unlike any of his previous work.
“I didn’t have a certain theme or sound in mind other than to make music I love making. I poured my soul into every lyric and every piece of the music,” he wrote.
According to Boettner, when looking for a headlining act, the Mission Outreach Team searches for a musician who is well known and can relate to the audience. The team has also been working to get August on board for a few years and this year they were able to make it happen.
“Not only is he one of the top musicians, but he also is so inspiring for all ages and seasons of people’s lives. Nathan Sabin is also not only a well known Twin Cities Christian artist, but he has such a passion for people’s hearts to share God’s love. Nathan Sabin composes and shares his own much that really comes from his heart,” Boettner said.
The evening will also include free kids’ activities such as face-painting and a bounce house. A large tent area will also be provided for people to stay out of the sun. Concessions will also be available.
“Christ Lutheran Church sponsors this event financially and with many passionate helps, but it would not be possible to offer a free concert like this without many of our business and community partners,” he said.
