The Minnesota Truck Convoy, an annual fundraising event for the Minnesota Special Olympics, almost was dead in the water this year due to COVID-19 restrictions and a lower truck tally. The fundraiser, which offers a special opening ceremony and celebration followed by a convoy driven on I-35, only had 13 trucks signed up just two weeks before the event, forcing event organizers to consider canceling. However, a last-minute call for truckers brought in a total of 87 trucks for the event, which began and ended at Running Aces Hotel & Casino in Columbus on Saturday, Oct. 10.
