After winning their season opener, the Forest Lake Rangers football team overcame a 16-point deficit Thursday, Sept. 8, at Anoka en route to their second win of the season. Down 29-13 in the third quarter, the Rangers scored three straight touchdowns to take the lead. Forest Lake held on defensively in the final couple minutes, clinching the game with the Tornadoes’ failed attempt in Rangers territory on fourth down.
Unlike the season opener, when Forest Lake scored three passing touchdowns, the Rangers took advantage of the ground game, scoring five rushing touchdowns. Senior Westin Hoyt collected his first rushing touchdown of the season, with three touchdown overall. Junior Leyton Patzer stole the spotlight, running 163 yards on 27 carries for three touchdowns.
