Workers began setup of the carnival at the American Legion on Tuesday, June 29 for the annual Fourth of July festivities. The carnival will open Thursday, July 1 from 5 to 10 p.m., and will run through July 4. Other hours include July 2 from noon to midnight, July 3 from 10 a.m. to midnight, and July 4 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., just before the fireworks will be set off over Forest Lake’s first lake. The parade will be at 10 a.m. on July 3 this year due to the Sunday holiday. The route will begin at Sixth Street Southwest, and will travel east on Broadway Avenue, then turn north on Centennial Drive. From there, the route goes east one block at Second Avenue Northeast, and travel down Highway 61/Lake Street (going along the west side of the roundabout at Broadway) where it will then turn west on Fourth Ave Southwest, finishing at Forest Lake Elementary School.
