The following are recent notable reports from the Forest Lake Police Department.

Motorcycle theft

Police investigated a May 14 report of a motorcycle theft. According to police, the owner had been storing his motorcycle (valued around $2,500) at an acquaintance’s house in the 800 block of North Shore Drive about three or four weeks prior. The motorcycle was taken sometime during that period. Police spoke to the woman who lives at the address, and she provided information about who she believed may have taken the motorcycle. The motorcycle is a green and black 1999 Kowasacki.

Parking pass fraud

While on duty as a school resource officer at Forest Lake Area High School on May 17, a Forest Lake police officer discovered that two students were using counterfeited parking passes (a real pass costs $200). Upon further investigation, the officer learned that three students worked together to make copies of the pass on a color printer and then laminated them so they could park in student parking without paying. The students involved were cooperative with police.

Trailer theft

Police investigated the theft of a trailer from the U Haul lot at the Forest Lake Mini-Storage after a report on May 17. The theft was believed to have occurred about three weeks prior. The trailer was reportedly full of hand and electrical tools.

Police had no suspects May 19 after someone used accelerants and trash to set a small fire in a wooded area near the Clear Lake Boat Landing. The fire was reported by a passerby, who said they did not see anyone in the area. Firefighters quickly put out the fire, and the trash was thrown away.
