Civil War history lovers will want to stay tuned to the St. Croix Valley Civil War Roundtable, which has announced meeting dates, speakers and topics for 2019-2020.
The Civil War Roundtable is open to the public and dinner meetings take place on the fourth Monday of the month at the Lowell Inn, 102 N. 2nd St., Stillwater. Meetings are scheduled from September through May with the exception of December.
The following are the meeting dates for the coming year, including the speaker and the speaker’s topic:
Monday, Sept. 23, “The Battle of Fredericksburg,” speaker John Cox.
Monday, Oct. 28, “Chickamauga, September 19-20, 1863,” speaker Kevin Hampton.
Monday, Nov. 25, “The Liberators of the 9th Minnesota,” speaker, Karl Frederickson.
Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, “Civil War Medicine,” speaker Darlene Kotelnicki.
Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, “The 4th Wisconsin Infantry and the Men of Western Wisconsin,” speaker Ken Martin.
Monday, March 23, 2020, “The Law and the Civil War,” speaker Robert Fiedler.
Monday, April 27, 2020, “Green Bay Tribes in the Civil War,” speaker Russell Horton.
Monday, May 18, 2020, “U.S.S. Queen City and the Skirmish at Clarendon, Arkansas,” speaker Gary Blessman.
The monthly meetings of the Civil War Roundtable begin at 5:30 p.m. with social hour. A buffet meal is served at 6 p.m. followed by the speaker’s program of the evening at 7 p.m.
The cost of the buffet is $23 with reservations needed by contacting Steve Anderson at 715-386-1268 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Cost at the door without reservations is $28. There is no charge for those wishing to hear the speaker of the evening.
Membership in the roundtable is also open, and new members are welcome. The annual dues are $20.
