Southwest Dental Care is now open in Forest Lake next to Tim Horton’s.

Residents of Forest Lake have a new dental option: Southwest Dental, which operates under the umbrella of Heartland Dental, opened next to Tim Horton’s in Forest Lake around the turn of the year.

Dr. Katarina Foster is excited to be a part of the Forest Lake community. She picked Forest Lake for her practice because she was interested in a small-town, rural environment where she can build relationships with her clients. She is especially excited about working with young people in the community and getting involved at the elementary schools, educating kids on dental health and what being a dentist entails.

Her focus is full comprehensive care for all ages. She is armed with the latest in dental technology, including digital X-rays, oral cancer screening technology, intra-oral cameras, and intra-oral 3D scanners, which replace the traditional gooey impressions.

Comfort of her patients is also a priority. Warm blankets, neck pillows and noise canceling headphones are just some of the features that provide for optimal comfort.

In addition to traditional dental care, Foster is also certified in Invisalign (clear aligners instead of traditional braces).

Foster performs a wide range of dental procedures, including restorative dentistry, whitening, cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, and emergency dentistry. She also loves kids.

Foster said she understands that offering affordable dental care is a priority in the community. She and her team are focused on offering individualized, comprehensive, affordable dental care, including a $59 new patient special, $1 emergency exam, and $1 take home professional whitening.

“We offer a discount plan for our patients who don’t have insurance and several payment plans to help make dental care fit into your budget,” Foster added.

Foster is already happy with her team – two experienced dental hygienists, a business assistant, a practice manager and two other assistants – but she is also interested in hiring more people.

“Anyone interested in working in an amazing dental office, feel free to apply,” she said.

Foster has an undergraduate in microbiology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and attended dental school at Marquette University School of Dentistry. She and her husband, Carl, have two bichon shih tzus. She told The Times her hobbies include reading, hiking and golf.
