Welcome back, ISD 728 families, students, staff and friends. We are excited to enter a new decade of learning this year, with our sights set on the Class of 2020 when all is said and done this school year.
We hope you are getting acclimated to your school, your building and your teachers and staff as you take on this first week of learning and dive into the 2019-2020 school year. We know that this summer went by so quickly, but we hope you are energized and refreshed after a few weeks of sunshine and time away from the classroom.
We start the year on a few high notes. First, we have maintained our excellent performance as a district in the North Star Accountability ratings, released by the Minnesota Department of Education. More information will be made public at our September board meetings, but we continue to shine bright as one of the top-performing, large school districts in the state.
We also continue to grow as a district. From adding an eighth grade class at Prairie View Elementary and Middle School in the southwest to growing neighborhoods and developments all around our ISD 728 communities, we start the year with our largest enrollment in history — a streak that shows no signs of stopping, as we know that we will continue to grow throughout this school year and into the next decade.
Together, we are 728 Strong! We are so proud of our students, families, staff and community and the work that they do, and we are happy they are part of our ISD 728 family. As we welcome our nearly 14,000 students and hundreds more preschool and adult learners back into our buildings, we hope you’ll join us in the mission to make this ISD 728’s best decade yet. — Superintendent Dan Bittman
