Meadowvale Elementary School students raised more than $19,400 in pledges before spending 90 minutes on Sept. 27 walking around the school’s soccer fields and trails in the 9th annual walk-a-thon.

Students in  Heidi Behnken’s classroom won first prize after bringing in more than $2,000.

They will be enjoy a pajama and movie party. They will also get to throw pie in the face of the staff member of their choice.  

First grade students who have Jenny Milless for a first grade teacher took second place, and fifth grade students who have  Tim Evenson for a fifth grade teacher took third.

The funds from the school’s fundraiser will help to pay for yearly subscriptions for technology programs including iXL Math and Language Arts and Reflex Math as well as PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) all school activities including the annual parking lot party.  

The funds will also be used to have Climb Theater return to each classroom three times during the school year teaching social and emotional skills.

“Meadowvale students and staff are grateful for the support of their families and community members who help to make this fundraiser such a great success each year,” Principal Karen Maschler said.
