Sunday, October 1 at 1 pm. Join us the first Sunday of every month for a fun gathering with live music and potluck food buffet at the Rogers Community Room. Everyone is sure to enjoy the live music from local musicians, friendly company, and delicious potluck at 4 pm. Bring a food item to contribute to the potluck and enjoy the wonderful entertainment.

FREE BINGO

Monday, Sept 9 at 2 pm, Senior Center. There will be free refreshments to enjoy along with an hour of Bingo games and prizes.

CRAFTERS MEETUP

Sept. 11 & 25, every other Wednesday at 10:30 am. Bring your current art or craft project and come to the Senior Center to work on it while enjoying the company of other local crafters. If you are new to stitchery, lessons can be arranged.

HEALTH INSURANCE COUNSELING

Thursday, Sept 12 from 9:30 – 12:30. Meet with a State Health Insurance Counselor at the Rogers Senior Center who can provide individual assistance with Medicare, prescription drug coverage, long-term care insurance, supplemental insurance, Medicare savings programs, appeals for Medicare claims, Medicare fraud and abuse, and more! Please call the Senior LinkAge Line® at 1-800-333-2433 to schedule a 1-hour appointment. This free service is made possible by the Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging and will be offered the 2nd Thursday of every month at the Senior Center.

GREAT DECISIONS GLOBAL DISCUSSION GROUP

Wed, Sept 18 at 9:30 am at the Senior Center. Topic: Cyber Conflict. If you would like to participate in this monthly global discussion group, please pick up a Great Decisions book from the Senior Center for $35 to educate yourself on the topic before meeting. The group meets the third Wednesday of each month (April-Nov) and each meeting begins by watching a half hour documentary on the topic before a group discussion led by a local expert.

FREE MYSTIC LAKE CASINO TRIP

Tuesday, September 24, 8:30am-3:30pm. We will depart from the Rogers Community Room at 8:30 am, you will have 5 hours of game time at the casino, and we will depart from Mystic Lake at 2:30 pm to head back to Rogers. SENIOR FAIR

Thursday, October 10 from 10am-1pm at the Rogers Community Room. This free event allows you to meet with a variety of vendors who specialize in serving older adults and can share knowledge of their service, product or mission. There will also be freebies to take home, three informative presentations, $4 lunch, and door prizes to win.

DAYTRIPPERS THEATRE: BERMUDA AVENUE TRIANGLE

Wed, Oct 30 from 11:15 – 4:30. This Broadway success concerns the adventures of a Jewish widow and an Irish widow whose respective daughters move them into a shared retirement condominium in Las Vegas. They think life has passed them by, until they both fall for a charming swindler! The New York Post says "Bermuda Avenue Triangle is a hilarious, touching comedy with gallons of laughs." This trip departs from the Rogers Community Room (21201 Memorial Drive) at 11:15 am. Shortly after our arrival to Bloomington, we will enjoy a lunch buffet at the theatre and sit back for the 1:15 pm performance. Around 3:30 pm, we’ll depart for Rogers. WEEKLY EXERCISE SAIL CLASS

SAIL (Stay Active & Independent for Life) is a strength, balance and fitness program for adults 65 & older on Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon at the Rogers Senior Center instructed by Lori Schoenborn, (612) 636-0207. Cost: Free for SilverSneaker members. Also free for Silver&Fit members who are not already registered with another facility. $1 for non-members. Your first class is free. No floor work. Chairs will be used as props throughout the workouts with the option of using adjustable wrist/ankle weights.

RECYCLE YOUR UNWANTED EYEGLASSES & HEARING AIDS

Stop by the Senior Center Monday-Friday to drop off your old eyeglasses & hearing aids in our bin on the front counter. Cases are not accepted. Batteries can be recycled at the Rogers Community Room, in a bin in the hallway.

BILLIARDS

All are welcome at the Senior Center to play billiards each week on Tuesdays at 10 am and Thursdays at 1 pm. These are designated times for the pool table to be used, although it is available to use anytime the senior center is open and there is not a special program scheduled during that time.

Every Monday & Tuesday 9 – 10:30 am at the Senior Center.

SENIOR CENTER COMPUTERS

The Rogers Senior Center has four laptops for you to use during operating hours. We also have Wi-Fi for those of you that would like to bring in your own laptop, tablet, or device.

BORROW A WALKER, WHEELCHAIR, CRUTCH OR CANE

The Rogers Senior Center has a variety of these items to loan out as requested. Stop in to check out our selection or donate any unwanted items in good condition.

WEEKLY LINE DANCING CLASS

Every Tuesday from 11am-noon at the Rogers Senior Center. Only $5! This new class began in June and is a fun way to get your body moving.

SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICES

Senior Community Services is an agency that offers licensed social workers to provide senior outreach as well as support for caregivers. Feel free to come and visit with Becky Allard, a licensed social worker at the Rogers Senior Center. Becky is able to sit down with you and try to identify specific needs in order to connect you to resources suited for your situation. Becky will be at the Rogers Senior Center on Mondays from 10am - noon. Feel free to drop in for a visit or call Becky at 952-746-4028 to make a one on one appointment.
