Lexi Ann, who was injured in a fire, has found a new home.

A dog injured in a house fire is being adopted by a firefighter from Indiana.

Lexi Ann will meet her new family at her Ruff Start Rescue foster home in Zimmerman on Saturday, April 6, and then journey to her new home.

The dog suffered serious burns in January during a fire at her previous owner’s house. Emergency room veterinarians contacted Ruff Start Rescue in Princeton to help with Lexi Ann’s rehabilitation. The black Labrador-boxer mix is now thriving.

Lexi Ann’s new owner is a firefighter in Lafayette, Indiana. Travis Oliver saw Lexi Ann’s photo on the Ruff Start Rescue website and knew she was the right dog to become part of his family. Oliver hopes to train Lexi Ann to provide comfort to children at a camp for burn victims.

Ruff Start Rescue’s founder and Executive Director Azure Davis said Lexi Ann came to them with severe burns.

“With extensive rehab and the care of a wonderful foster family, Lexi Ann’s wounds healed. Now that she’s better, we hope her bravery will give other burn victims courage to continue their own healing,” Davis said.
