On Nov. 18, sites in the Elk River area will open to collect shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for the Operation Christmas Child project.
Since 1993 Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 168 million shoeboxes to children in over 160 countries and territories. For many of these children, the gift-filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.
Operation Christmas Child’s 2019 goal is to reach 11 million children in need.
Here’s a list of local sites that will be collecting shoeboxes filled with gifts during national collection week, which is Nov. 18-25.
