Swanville junior Rebekah Muhlenkamp keeps a watchful eye on Upsala sophomore setter Rachel Ainali in a match in Swanville, Tuesday.

Upsala’s volleyball team bounced back with a quick, 3-0 sweep of the Swanville Bulldogs, Tuesday.

The Cardinals came off a pair of tough losses to Browerville-Eagle Valley in five sets and Bertha-Hewitt in four sets.

Against the Bulldogs in Swanville, the Cardinals won, 25-17, in the opening set.

Swanville played well to begin the second set, and led a lot of the way through, but under the serving of senior Amber Biniek, Upsala scrapped back to win the second set, 25-21.

The Cardinals then cruised to a 25-10 win in the third set to sweep the Bulldogs for the second time this season.

Tyra Powell led the Bulldogs with four kills, and senior Lucia Bryce had a pair of aces.

The match was the only one of the week for the Bulldogs, who drop to 3-10 with the loss. Next up for Swanville is a match at Pillager, Monday.

Upsala was bested in five sets by Browerville, Sept. 26. The Cardinals traded sets with the Tigers, winning 25-20 and 25-23 in sets two and four, but falling 16-25 and 15-25 in sets one and three. BEV then topped Upsala, 15-13.

The Cardinals then fell 1-3 to Berth-Hewitt, Monday to drop to 6-14 overall on the season. Next on the schedule for the Cardinals is a match at Eden Valley-Watkins, Tuesday.
