The area cross-country team’s paths crossed in the past week at a few events in the area.
First, Little Falls, Pierz and Holdingford all raced at the Falcon Invitational in Foley, Sept. 26.
The Flyer girls were the top finishers out of the three as a team, taking fifth place with a total of 144. Pierz was ninth with 201 and the Huskers came in right behind them in 10th.
Little Falls was led by junior Courtney Loeffler, whose 20:41.6 finish was good for 11th place overall.
Holdingford sophomore Clara Pfluegger was 22nd with 22:04.2.
Freshman Carissa Andres led the Pioneers with a season-best 22:07.5 mark and 25th place.
Other top area finishers: Abby Borash, Flyer junior, 26th; Marissa Hartung, Husker freshman, 29th; Adrienne Kresha, Flyer senior, 30th; Brenna Andres, Pioneer senior, 32nd.
In the boys race, boys led the way with a 7th place finish, while Holdingford came in 11th. Little Falls’ boys were in Fergus Falls.
Pierz was led by senior Cole Andres’ 12th place time of 18:15.3. Pierz’ Jaden Hennen came in 20th.
In Fergus Falls, the Little Falls boys team came in seventh out of nine teams at the John Hermes Invite.
The Flyers were led by junior Jackson Grant’s 21st place finish with a time of 18:04.4. Freshman Isaac Larsen finished in 42nd.
The third area race was in Sauk Centre, Tuesday, as Royalton joined Pierz and nine other teams for a race.
Thanks to a third place overall finish from senior Christopher Borash (17:30.4), the Royalton boys team finished in fourth place.
Fellow senior Anthony Rozycki came in fifth place overall to help the Royals.
Pierz also had a pair of top 10 finishers as Cole Andres and Hennen finished eighth and ninth, respectively. Cole’s time was 18:14.8, while Hennen was only .6 seconds behind.
The roles were reversed in the girls’ race, as Pierz was the fourth place finisher, and the Royals dipped to eighth place.
However, it was Royalton sophomore Erin Borash who was the top area finisher after a seventh place time of 21:43.3.
Carissa Andres bested her time from Sept. 26 with a time of 22:00.2 to come in ninth place overall.
Brenna Andres was not far behind in 14th place with a time of 22:19.8.
Junior Grace Neutz helped Royalton with a 21st place race of 22:35.2.
Little Falls and Holdingford will be in Albany, Monday, while Royalton hosts a meet, Tuesday, where Pierz will compete as well.
