Susan K. Overman

Susan K. Overman, age 73 of North Branch, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at September House Elder Care in Scandia. Susan was born on May 29, 1946 in Minneapolis to parents, David and Mary (Roach) Amenrud. Loved by many – both human and animals – Sue will be forever remembered in the hearts of her three sons, six granddaughters, and extended family members and friends. Gossiping with Grandma Sue was always a slice of heaven, and she had no shortage of stories to tell or jokes to make. Although her career pursuits panned out differently, it was widely agreed among family members that she would’ve made it big in Hollywood. Her love of scary movies and NASCAR were passed down to her sons and granddaughters. Back in her younger and more agile days, Sue loved to hit the town and dance. In her older days, one of her favorite activities was spending hours in the bakery section of the grocery store, scanning for the newest and most delicious-looking baked goods with exuberance. Grocery shopping with her wasn’t always easy, but looking back now, we wish we could hit the bakery section with her one last time. We love and miss you dearly, Grandmother Sue! Toodle-loo!! Susan is survived by her three sons, Robert (Jung) Carlson of Ham Lake, Steven (Heidi) Carlson of North Branch and Joe Carlson of Fridley; her brother, Pete (Maria) Amenrud of Ham Lake as well as her six granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, David and Mary; sisters, Barb Ellis, Mary Jo Ryan and infant sister Kathy. A memorial visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch. Family interment was held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch. Condolences may be expressed online at
