Shaun M. Freeburg

Shaun Marie Freeburg of Maple Grove for 30+ years and lifelong roots in North Branch passed away on her 78th birthday, September 8, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Preceded in death by her parents Sylvan and Rosella Stepp and sister Donna Pierce. Survived by daughters, Terry (Derek) Ward and Carrie (Dave Shappell) Dedrick; special brother-in-law, Gene Pierce; brothers, Shannon (Linda) Stepp and Shane (Gabi) Stepp; grandsons, Nick (Ashley), Conor (Sarah) and Brody (Casey); three great-granddaughters; longtime friend, Eldora Anderson and many other special friends and relatives. A special thank you to Gene Pierce for his extraordinary generosity and lifelong friendship to insure her remaining time in life was filled with bounty of friends, family, travel, companionship, security and more. Also a special thank you to Kim Theis (niece) for being so supportive and compassionate to Shaun and the entire family. Shaun was born in Minneapolis and raised in Marshall until her family moved to the Sunrise area when she was in the 12th grade. Shaun graduated from North Branch High School with the class of 1957. She worked as an administrative assistant throughout her life with the last 15 years at Thrivent. She had a passion for quilting and cooking and especially time spent at Holly Lake near Drummond, Wisconsin where many family gatherings were held. She will be remembered as a kind, generous, loving and compassionate person who put her heart and soul into everything she did. Her true passion was her family and the time spent with her daughters, grandsons and her three great-granddaughters. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in North Branch. Visitation Thursday, Sept. 12th from 5-8 p.m. at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and one hour prior to service at church on Friday. Private family interment at Sunrise Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge (411 2nd St. NW) Rochester, MN 55901.
