MONTICELLO –- The Cambridge-Isanti football team suffered a 48-6 loss at Monticello on Friday, Sept. 6.

The Magic ground game rumbled for 403 yards and seven touchdowns on 36 carries, averaging 11.2 yards per carry. Monticello ran for three touchdowns in the first quarter, then added two more in the second period, as the Bluejackets trailed 34-0 at halftime.

C-I avoided the shutout thanks to a 67-yard run by Hayden Imker with 3:53 left in the contest.

Gaven Ziebarth led the Bluejackets rushing game with 95 yards on 24 carries, while Imker had 65 yards. Quarterback Connor Braaten completed four of the 12 passes he attempted for 65 yards.

Monticello’s Sam Valor carried the ball eight times for 189 yards and three touchdowns, while Calvin Schmitz ran for 93 yards and two TDs on 12 rushing attempts.
