Press Release provided by the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office
On Feb. 12 at approximately 7:50 a.m., the Chisago County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a vehicle crash near Rush Point Drive (CR-7) and Clover Trail in Nessel Township.
Callers indicated that two vehicles were involved, a passenger car and a transport bus. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames. The Rush City Fire Department arrived and extinguished the flames.
Three occupants in the passenger car died as a result of the crash. At this time, the victims have not been identified.
The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol and Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office are still actively processing the scene. Additional information will follow.
The three victims have been identified as men from the St. Paul area, according to preliminary findings of the Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office has been in contact with the families of the victims. Names of those involved will not be released until definitive confirmation can be validated through medical records.
Speed appears to have been a factor in the crash. The MN State Patrol Crash Reconstruction team processed the scene and will be analyzing the data to provide a more thorough analysis of the incident.
