The Rush City Fire Department hosted a new firefighter training at the Rush City Fire Hall for 10 firefighters and lead by four instructors: Randy Roach, Zach Weberg, Josh Connor and Dan Custer from Central Lakes College out of the Brainerd area on Friday, June 7 through Sunday, June 9.
Firefighters from Alumlund, Rush City, Lindstrom, Mission Township and Browenville attended the training. East Central Towing provided the vehicles for extensive training that includes rapid entry into vehicles, the use of “jaws of life,” and extinguishing a car fire fueled by propane. CTX allows them the use of their packing lot and Federated Coop provides the propane for the burn.
Each new firefighter will complete 160 hours to be certified in firefighter I and II.
“We love to come to Rush City to conduct this training as we are treated so well, with great meals, wonderful facility, and state-of-art, and safe equipment,” said instructor Randy Roach.
