Some of you may remember the Faithfully Fit classes from several years ago here in Cambridge.

Faithfully Fit 2 is a Christ-centered, faith-based fitness class for “Baby Boomers” (people 55-plus). This class is designed for men and women who want to enhance or maintain their ability to be physically active with their family and community; to enjoy the physical components of life: sports, playing with grandchildren, gardening, working and volunteering. Classes offer challenge, fun, group camaraderie and fellowship.

Faithfully Fit 2 classes are led by Linda Matthias, ACE certified personal trainer and group fitness leader since 1987, and she has trained individuals over 55 for the last 26 years.

Participants will be offered, age appropriate high intensity interval training (HIIT). This includes: functional warmup with the balance ball, resistance work with dumbbells and ankle weights, traditional floor work infused with Pilates, cardio with traditional aerobics using the “step,” aerobic routines and body bar. Each day has a different format.

“I know that not everyone in the class is at the same fitness level,” Matthias said. “I am trained as a personal trainer and make sure that each person receives recommendations for enhancement or modification with what we are doing, in order to achieve their personal goals.”

Finally, closing the class with great stretching, and an encouraging Bible verse with a short send-off prayer.

Classes start on Monday, Oct. 14, and meet Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Common Ground United Methodist Church (please enter the back door), 404 Cypress St. N., Cambridge.

For more information call Matthias at 612-419-6560, or just show up on Oct. 14. First class is always free. Your insurance may cover the class fee. If not, a donation is always appreciated.
