>Presentation on Rain Gardens

“Anyone can build a rain garden, the question is why?” This presentation by Tiffany Determan from Isanti County Soil and Water Conservation will cover how land use change, such as forested to residential development, can affect lake and stream health as well as groundwater (drinking water). Determan will cover the basics of how to build a simple, residential rain garden: from selecting a suitable location to planting the garden with the right plants. This informative presentation will be held on the lower level of the Isanti County Government Center in Cambridge at 7 p.m. Reservations are recommended, but not required, by calling 763-689-1810.

>Classic Car Show

GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge will be hosting their annual Classic Car Show from 1-2:30 p.m. Music will be provided by the Wyoming Wanders. Root Beer Floats will be served at the GracePointe Crossing Gables Entrance, door 1601. If you are interested in bringing your classic car in for the show, contact Penny Folkema at 763-691-2117. Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place.

>Ruby’s Pop-Up Pantry

Ruby’s Pop-Up Pantry will be held at New Hope Community Church-Isanti Campus, 114 Dahlin Ave., from 9-10:30 a.m. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Everyone who wants to save on grocery expenses is welcome. In return for a $20 donation, participants receive an abundance of grocery items. Bring boxes or baskets to carry home the food. There are no income or residency requirements. In other words you do not have to live in Isanti County to come to Ruby’s. Everyone is welcome. Look for them on Facebook at Ruby’s Pantry IsantiMN. >Peace Walk in Cambridge

The bi-monthly peace walk in Cambridge will take place at 9 a.m. The group meets in the parking lot at Highway 95 and Birch Street, and the walk takes about half an hour. They try to keep their messages positive, supporting equal rights and justice for all, protection of our environment and an end to violence. Anyone is welcome to join. They walk on the first and third Saturdays of every month.

>Father’s Day Fly-In, Pancake Breakfast

Bring your dad’s and your families to Cambridge Airport Fly-In and enjoy a pancake breakfast hosted by the Cambridge Lions Club from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets for the breakfast are adults $7, children 4-12, $4, and children 3 and under are free. You will see a wide variety of planes, enjoy fun activities for the children, visit with local law enforcement and first responders and enter for raffle drawings. The airport is located at 3129 Airport Parkway NE.

>Camera Club Meeting in Center City

The June meeting of the St. Croix Valley Camera Club will be held at 7 p.m. at the Chisago County Government Center in Center City. The presentation is “Still Life Photography” by Peggy Boike of Lindstrom. Boike is an award winning photographer and is a member of Photographic Society of America. The club is fortunate to have her not only as a member, but also as a mentor who has helped many members develop their photographic skills. One of her passions is still life photography, and she will talk about the equipment, lighting, and camera settings that she uses. She is an excellent teacher of composition and will have that as part of her talk. Following the presentation there will be a discussion of members’ photos on the theme of this month. Photographers of all abilities and interests are welcome.

Alzheimer’s Support Group will hold its monthly meeting every Third Tuesday from 10-11:30 a.m. at GracePointe Crossing Town Center, 1545 Riverhills Parkway NW, Cambridge. Meetings are facilitated by Molly Carlson of GracePointe Crossing and will provide education, information and support. Refreshments served. Distribution will begin at approximately 2:30 p.m. You don’t need to bring boxes.

Carl Heinrich, local historian, will be at the Rush City History Museum at 1:30 p.m. to discuss local history. Heinrich personally remembers stores and events back into the 1940s and 50s. For example, he can remember four different businesses that were in the building, where the present pet care shop is located. Bring along photos or even artifacts that you need identified. The public is invited to attend this discussion, at the Museum, 50 South Eliot Ave., Rush City.

>Shopping Trip to St. Cloud

The Senior Enrichment Center in Cambridge (City Center Mall, 140 Buchanan St. N.) invites the community to a Shopping Trip to St. Cloud.
