The school year is flying by! It is hard to believe that there is only one month left before the students enter their summer vacation. Some exciting news I would like to share, we have just received the up-to-date graduation rates and percentages within the state of Minnesota. The state of Minnesota has a four-year graduation rate of 83.2%, while Braham has a four-year graduation rate of 90.6%. Keep up the tremendous work Braham students and staff, job well done!

With much work and learning left to be done I wanted to celebrate some of our accomplishments to this point of the school year. We had seven students advance to the State FFA Convention: Ben Carlson for Ag Mechanics; Hannah Olson, Mac Nelson, Tyler Heikes and Kyle Warzecha for the Soils Team; Kyra Johnson and Jaeden Klingensmith for State FFA Band; and McKayla Carlson-Hughes who has been selected as a State FFA Ambassador. Great job!

Lilia Anderson earned a trip to the Minnesota State Speech meet on April 12 at Wayzata High School. Lilia earned sixth-place honors in extemporaneous reading, way to go Lilia!

Our supermileage team competed at the Shell Eco-Marathon Supermileage Competition in Sonoma California from April 3-5. These students took third-place in the Battery Electric Class and fourth-place in the Internal Combustion Class. Super proud of this group, awesome job!

We also had four of our very own students (Josh Klingensmith, Ben Carlson, Jeremy Brown and Zach Anderson) present to NASA astronauts and engineers in Houston, Texas on their self created Space Washing Machine. Way to go guys!

As you all know, we have had a rough spring with our outdoor spring activities as it pertains to the weather. The baseball team was fortunate enough to be able to enjoy a spring training trip to Orlando, Florida this spring. This was a much needed break from all of our time in the gym practicing. Our softball team is growing day by day with hard work and a commitment to do their best. With many young participants, the girls have a lot of many exciting days ahead. The boys and girls track and field teams have been able to participate in a few outdoor meets to this point. I would like to specifically recognize the following athletes for achieving Honor Roll status for the MSHSL: Hannah Cornelius: 100 m, 200 m and 400 m; Ryan Dziubak, Carson Shockman, Brayden Doble and Jacob Kern for the 4x100m relay. We will be hosting a varsity track and field meet on Thursday, May 9 and also have the Great River Conference Championships right here in Braham on Tuesday, May 14. We hope to see you there! The golf team has been working on their game and trying to make the best of the weather. In the first conference meet of the year, our girls team finished in first-place and Emma Downing finished in a tie for second. Our boys golf team finished in seventh-place with Matt Yerke finishing in first-place overall.
